"We'll
blow up any joint we play!" (no pun intented) Look! You know who you are! Hand over the photos you've taken! And hand over your soul too when you're at it.
This was kind of a short planned gig but it proved to be spontaneously well. We arranged it the day before so that's why we couldn't really notify you on the site. Lylium was going to perform at a sort of overdue Valentine party of my highschool but there was enough time left for another band. So we asked the school commission and just walked in the cafe and started playing. We were lucky to find Jacco from The Exposition doing the sound mixing so our music came through very good in my opinion. We didn't rage like at Gooische Goden but did the same set of songs in a slightly more controlled fashion. It was very amusing to play our kind of music for a crowd that consisted of more then an average amount of yuppies.
Chaos
was turning in
more chaos. Because of the absence of gaz and mark, I was forced to
play the gg
final in a different setting. With Joey on drums (the stabile factor),
Govert
on bass (our charming motherfucker who learned all the songs in one
rehearsel
session, so praise the lord for him) and I was playing guitar and using
my
throat (which is pretty hard). We played the show we gave everything we
could
and still kept our dignity at least that’s what I hope. The jury hated
our guts
and some people in the audience actually enjoyed it. It was a fun show
and a
new experience. So thanks for the people who showed up for us. Wytse
This calls for a celebration. This has been the first concert we ever finished. We got to play the six songs we had at our disposal but because of contest rules we couldn't do the little acoustic encore we had planned. We had a little scandalous intro sound, on which we debated a bit what lame 80'ies tv series theme it would be, but settled for the final countdown. (*ouch*) Our setlist counted for: 1. Candy in the Guillotine 2. Driveby Shooting 3. To Dig a Hole for My Lost Romance 4. Teardrums 5. Big Plans 6. The Paris Hilton Experience Lucky we brought along the Ibanez Artist Stagemaster as a backup guitar because Wytse's Les Paul broke a string on the first song. We kinda guessed that because it happened at both rehearsels for the gig. We had originally planned to play with Pieter from Thin Lines as our drummer but Joey recovered from his arm injury in time to practice two times with us. Which proved to be enough because allthough we thought it went a little messy we were anounced as one of the finalists at the end of the evening. This has been the second show that we've organized as a union of bands and it proved to be even better then the last. The improvements were: it was IN-DOORS, we had BBQ outside, there were MORE BANDS, there was NO POLICE and we had a 8-BIT NINTENDO plus 2 movie beamers. Great way to celebrate that you're becoming an old fuck (overreacting) and should get the hell outta high school. A new band called 'A Change of Plan' made it's debute. They don't have a website yet, but I bet there will be one soon. Founding members include Gijs and Mike from the late Push Unit. We must ofcourse thank High Feather again for not only lending their PA but also their amps and for cheering us up with mellow blues rock. And thanks to Thin Lines for getting gay *wink wink*. ;) Regretfully, Gracie played only one song. (Maybe three but the last one's were played with less then half the volume so they don't count.) Wytse showed up late and DIT was first up on the menu so we were queued a lot later then planned. Apparently, the neighbours came home and we're not that evil that we're gonna rob some old people from having a good night sleep. But we'll get another shot at it some time soon.
First of all, we wanna thank all the bands that shoved aside their tight schedule to come and make this show. Especially thanks to High Feather that brought the P.A. with them and also a BIG UP! to Thin Lines who provided their drum kit. And a thanks to Robrecht from Nemesyz who loaned us his Hartke bass amp. We apologize to Lylium who had to play acoustic because of the circumstances. Finally another thanks to the yard owners and all the people that helped to set up the venue. After all the but kissing, we personally wanna collect and give up all your middle fingers to the neighbourhood and the local police that were an absolute bitch and ended the beautiful noise before we could finish our last song by threatening to take away our equipment and buy us a lawsuit. We are grateful for all the partypeople who consolidated and kept partying, while we gave a last diss to the police and the hood, and shut down the power. It was a short setlist but our previous drummer had quit the band 2 days before the gig. So we rehearsed 4 hours the day before with Joey and learned 4 songs. At least it was fun to play, but as I warned the crowd: we were probably the hardest band of the evening, though the shortest too :P. Unfortunatly, our loudness was probably the last drop that flooded the bucket. Anyway, we're gonna have a whole lot more practice before the next gig so it's definitly gonna be worth it. If any of the people who were at the show could leave a message in the guestbook about their thoughts it would be cool. |
